Good road game that fell just a little short.

I agree that the 3rd & 4th lines looked good. And you need more out of your first 2 lines or you are going to be in trouble.

Shake it off and win a big game tonight.

WTF is with officials this game? The guy going after Reaves is probably the video they'll use to teach officials what textbook instigating is, yet no call from the official right there clearly watching? And the call on Edmundson after he gets boarded... questionable sequence at best.

There should have been a boarding penalty but Edmundson needs to collect himself there and not take that selfish penalty, he did the same thing in the game against the ducks. He needs to show some composure and realize it's not the right time to do something stupid.

That amount of contact wasn't an interference penalty any other time the Blues did it, or any time the Sharks did it. The standard suddenly changed purely because the ref saw Edmundson was upset about the completely blown prior call.

I kind of agree with both statements above about Edmundson. He should not have taken that penalty after the non call on the boarding. He also should have known the ref was watching him and would call something on him if he did anything.

Bad no call, but Edmundson should not have retaliated like he did. As soon as i saw him hit the guy in front I knew it was a penalty. He did the same thing against the ducks.

When he took that penalty i thought to myself wow he really is a younger Jackman with more skill.

Anytime the Blues can go 2-1 in 4 days in California is basically a win for us. It seems Cali teams give us fits. Just too bad we played well against LA and lost. Could have been 3-0 heading into Arizona.

Tarasenko looked like he was on a mission tonight, especially after the breakaway. Wish he could play like that more often.

Lehtera who?? Shattenkirk who??

Good goal by Sanford. Congrats to him getting his 1st as a Blue

For me, this is spot on. He's done this multiple times repeatedly and they need to coach this out of him. If he wants to do it in a 4 goal differential game in the 3rd period fine, but not in a close game like he has been doing.

They should have already talked to him about it after the last time and this could warrant him sitting for a game imho. His play was dumb and going to cause an automatic penalty call almost every time. Take a number and resolve it later. You can't do that immediately after, while the ref is watching you.

Agreed.

Congrats to Sanford on his first Blues goal. Nice curl and roof. Liked the understated celebration 'yea, I've been there'.

That was a beautiful shot, takes confidence and some pretty slick hands to pull that off.

That deal might start looking pretty good as time goes on. You don't often see a player like him at his age who is NHL ready along with a first round pick get traded for a rental.

Nowadays almost everyone has slick hands. Lets see if this kid can fill out a little bit. He looks so young in the face. Lets see if he develops into a solid player first.

I wanted to say the same thing after that goal, but i've seen flashes like that come and go. Not saying he can't or won't be decent, just saying it's too early to judge.

The pick is a low pick and should be used wisely. Scouts better do their job like they did with Parayko or a trade up in the round.

Poll question for everyone:

Pick an option

1. Shatty and Oshie resign with the caps
2. Shatty to Rangers, Oshie resigns with Caps
3. Shatty to Rangers, Oshie somewhere else
4. Shatty and Oshie highest bidder
5. Both sign to the same team but not the Caps

Yeah everybody has slick mitts but that shot right there he had about a four inch window to hit. It's possible he just got lucky but in that situation a lot of players would just bang it right off the goalie. The Blues could be set with some pretty good shooters down the road with him and Thompson. That kid has a hell of a one timer.

My bet is, Shatty either goes to the Devils or the Knights, maybe the Bruins. If he really wants that big payday and top pair minutes, his options are limited.

As for Oshie, not really sure but Vegas will probably make a big push for him.

Yeah not sure if it was luck or skill but alot of players would have pushed it into the pad. Thompson i am eager to see more of and quite possibly next season Sanford might be legit. Just havent seen him play before. Panger said he was defending some players, maybe Allen, in a scrum. If so i like that alot. Shatty will not go to the Knights neither will Oshie. They both want to compete for the cup and will pass up money before signing there. Oshie i think stays a Cap. Why would he not when playing alongside of Ovi and Backstrom? Shatty to the Devils seems possible as he wants top minutes. With Boston i dont think he can get that, maybe i'm wrong. That goes for NYR as well. But he has a desire to play close to home so.......

Personally, i don't care wtf happens with those players as long as they do not win a cup. Shatty turned down a max contract with the Blues. He wanted to leave. I can understand that. I don't like it. Oshie had problems with Hitch. He is gone and is forgotten, soon will be Shatty.

Perron coming back was a head scratcher as I thought he had problems with Hitch.

New coach. New era.

Can Perron start producing more. Didn't he used to have a great wrist shot? What happened to it? We don't see him firing from out high anymore.

My friend brought that question up and i've noticed he doesn't shoot like he used to

First, Shattenkirk did not turn down a max contract with the Blues lol. A max contract would be 14.6 million a year for 8 years. Shattenkirk turned down the maximum the Blues were willing to offer. Which was almost certainly less than he can get as a UFA.

Second, not caring what he does doesn't really make sense. If he signs with Rangers as a UFA, we get nothing more. But if he signs with Caps, we get another second round pick. Or Caps trade him somewhere for a pick before July 1, we get another pick 2 rounds below whatever they got. Blues are still invested in where he goes, so it makes sense for Blues fans to be as well.

okay we offered him 8 years, less money than he wanted. 2nd pick is conditional if the caps get to the finals?? or ECF? i dont think its if he resigns with them.

I was just saying i dont care where he goes on gut instinct, emotionally i guess. i DO care what happens if it means we get something in return. that should be obvious. sometimes i dont think as much as i should and let emotions take over. I was just saying as long as he does not win a cup i dont care. We could not afford a max contract. I am glad we did not resign him. Are we missing him? No. Gives other people chances. We already have some heavy contracts on this team. The next one handed out should be to Parayko. Sign him to a bridge contract? then try to maximize it after that ends? Bouwmeester's is up after next year right? Who do we get to fill his role. Eddy is not up to the task. Gunnar has been looking better but still makes mistakes. No rookie could just jump in and get that spot.

Fair enough.

Us getting a second is if Caps make ECF and he plays in at least 50% of their games in round 1 & 2; OR if he re-signs with Caps. So best case scenario for us is them making it to ECF, then trading him for a high pick in June. But as long as he signs there, we get a second. Fingers crossed!

Exactly, it's not even the accuracy, it's the composure.
